“Great leaders understand their strengths.”

In my previous career I was Global Director of Human Resources for the clothing company Patagonia, Inc., where I also worked as assistant to the founder, Yvon Chouinard, served as the company's Public Affairs Director for ten years, and spent time as Director of Training and Employee Development.

Before landing at Patagonia, I worked for fifteen years with the National Park Service, where at Yosemite, my telephone number was 911. As a dispatcher for the entire 1,169 square mile park, I took emergency calls ranging from lost hikers to drug overdoses. To provide guidance and encouragement to those immobilized by fear was simultaneously a great challenge and a great delight.

Today, I still provide support to those paralyzed in some way by uncertainty. The results my clients enjoy are not always as vital as those in Yosemite but are often more wide-ranging and long-lasting.
